1. Infrastructure: Recruit and train the right on-field and coaching talent to execute the West Coast offense – and plan to take at least three years building it.
2. Strategy: Plan for the entire season, not just the next game. Incorporate pacing, home versus travel games, and the styles of the opposing teams.
3. Tactics: Enter each game with a distinct plan, and, all other factors being equal, do not deviate from that plan under the pressure of events.
4. Contingencies: Expect the unexpected, such as an injured key player. Be flexible enough to adapt your plan to these game-changing events.
